just throwing this out there,
if we had the chance to give Capcom suggestions for a newer version of SPF what kind of features we would ask them to add to make the game more competitive. nowadays we got an influx of puzzle games but none has a true competitive nature such as SPF.
i say add special moves into the game but doing specific patterns of color gems it active a special move like Hadouken or Shoryuken for each character
maybe a health bar also goes with the special move addition
